Intuitive Metadata Editor

‡biblios.net (pronounced 'biblios dot net') features an intuitive metadata editor complete with templates, macros, authority auto-completion and embedded context-sensitive help.

Thirty-Million Freely Licensed Library Records

The central record repository contains 30 million+ bibliographic records and just under eight-million authority records. The data is maintained by ‡biblios.net users similar to the model used by Wikipedia.  Catalogers can use and contribute to the database without restrictions because records in ‡biblios.net are freely-licensed under the Open Data Commons Public Domain Dedication and License (https://biblios.net/pddl).

Works with Koha and any Z39.50 Target

‡biblios.net also includes a built-in federated search system allowing catalogers to find records from any Z39.50 target. A central Search Target Registry, seeded with over 2,000 Z39.50 servers, makes it easy for catalogers to find, create and share Z39.50 targets.

Additionally, you can push records you create directly into your Koha system.

Social Cataloging

In addition to offering a cutting-edge cataloging interface, ‡biblios.net offers a unique social cataloging environment. Built-in forums and private messaging make finding help and communicating with other users a cinch.

How It Works

Explore

With ‡biblios.net, you have access to explore not only the ‡biblios.net database, but any database available online that supports Z39.50.

Create

At the core of ‡biblios is a powerful set of metadata editing tools that let you create, copy, merge and export records with ease. Perfect for original or copy cataloging.

Share

Through the ‡biblios.net network, you can share your record creations with the rest of the ‡biblios.net community, under the terms of the Open Data Commons, which ensures that anyone may freely share, modify and use your records.

Transfer

Once you identify or create the record you need, ‡biblios.net makes it easy to transfer that record to other bibliographic databases, or even your Integrated Library System, without the extra steps of downloading a daily file and importing. Batch tools for export are embedded for databases and ILSes that don't support the ‡biblios.net API.

Collaborate

Among the most powerful features of ‡biblios.net are the integrated Social Cataloging features like real-time embedded chat, built-in forums, email integration, and more.
