Southeast Kansas Library System Selects Koha ZOOM
ATHENS, OH--August 7, 2008-- LibLime, the leader in open-source solutions for libraries, announced today that the Southeast Kansas Library System in Kansas has selected a Koha ZOOM hosted solution for their next integrated library system.
SEKLS is the 8th consortium in 2008 to select LibLime's Koha ZOOM solution.
SEKLS's
consortial collection of 364,000 items will be hosted offsite at one of
LibLime's secure data centers. The Library has also contracted with
LibLime for data migration, training and support on their Koha system.
SEKLS
--a consortium with 104 member libraries-- is forming an ILS consortium
with an initial 11 public libraries who will migrate to the Koha ZOOM
system.
"We expect to grow our consortium beyond the initial
11 libraries, and anticipate that some school and possibly academic
libraries may join," says Roger Carswell, Director of the Southeast
Kansas Library System.
The ability to customize and steer development played a large part in the decision to go with Koha.
"SEKLS
consortium libraries liked the idea of an open-source product whose
future development we could help determine and which could be
customized to our circumstances," explains Roger. "Koha was powerful
enough to accommodate our needs and potential growth and flexible
enough to do what we want at a cost we could afford."
