Georgia Library PINES Awards Contract to LibLime

LIBLIME HQ, ATHENS, OH--November 22, 2005--The Georgia Library PINES project, the public library automation and lending network for 252 libraries in 123 counties in Georgia, today announced that LibLime has been awarded a contract to assist the Evergreen team in Quality Assurance and software testing.

Evergreen is an open-source Integrated Library System being developed and maintained by the Georgia Public Library Service for use by the Georgia Library PINES Program, a consortium of 252 public libraries in Georgia.

A Clear Choice

"We decided on open source for our development model for both pragmatic and philosophical reasons", said Brad LaJeunesse, PINES System Administrator. "The open-source community is a natural ally of the library community. Both try to enrich their members through sharing and disseminating knowledge, and both are open to everyone, private or public, commercial or non-commercial."

"LibLime currently assists in the development and support of the Koha ILS", said LaJeunesse. "They also have a great deal of experience in library practices and standards, and we're looking forward to LibLime's involvement with the Evergreen project".

Evergreen Timeline

Work on Evergreen ILS began in Aug 2004 and the first Alpha release, in July of 2005 included an OPAC, Circ and Cataloging modules. The Beta release is set for Spring 2006. PINES migration to Evergreen is set for Labor Day Weekend 2006.
